Wrestling at the 2008 Olympic Games
August 13th, 2007 by OlympicNewsWrestling competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, will be held at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium from August 9-19, 2008. It will be split into two disciplines, Freestyle and Greco-Roman which are further divided into different weight categories. Men will compete in both disciplines whereas women will only take part in the freestyle events with 14 gold medals being awarded. This is the second Olympics with women’s wrestling as an event.
18 sets of medals will be awarded in the following events:
- Men’s Freestyle 00-55 kg
- Men’s Freestyle 55-60 kg
- Men’s Freestyle 60-66 kg
- Men’s Freestyle 66-74 kg
- Men’s Freestyle 74-84 kg
- Men’s Freestyle 84-96 kg
- Men’s Freestyle 96-120 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 00-55 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 55-60 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 60-66 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 66-74 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 74-84 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 84-96 kg
- Men’s Greco-Roman 96-120 kg
- Women’s Freestyle 00-48 kg
- Women’s Freestyle 48-55 kg
- Women’s Freestyle 55-63 kg
- Women’s Freestyle 63-72 kg
