2008 Olympic Games

Hockey at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held over a fourteen day period starting on August 10, and culminating with the medal finals on August 23. All games will be played at the hockey field constructed on the Olympic Green.

2 sets of medals will be awarded in the following events:

• Hockey Men
• Hockey Women

Wrestling competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, will be held at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium from August 9-19, 2008. It will be split into two disciplines, Freestyle and Greco-Roman which are further divided into different weight categories. Men will compete in both disciplines whereas women will only take part in the freestyle events with 14 gold medals being awarded. This is the second Olympics with women’s wrestling as an event.

• Men’s Freestyle 60-66 kg

Weightlifting competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from August 9 to August 19. Competitions will be conducted at the Beihang University Gymnasium.

Volleyball competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from August 9, 2008 to August 24, 2008. Indoor volleyball events will be held at Capital Indoor Stadium and Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium. Beach volleyball competitions will be held at the Beach Volleyball Ground at Chaoyang Park.

4 sets of medals will be awarded in following events:

• Volleyball Men (12 teams)
• Volleyball Women (12 teams)
• Beach Volleyball Men (24 teams)
• Beach Volleyball Women (24 teams)

Triathlon competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing will be held on August 18 and August 19. The tournaments will be held at the Triathlon Venue at the Ming Tomb Resevoir.

2 sets of medals will be awarded in the following events:

• Men’s Triathlon
• Women’s Triathlon

Tennis competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from August 10 to August 17. The tournaments will be held at the Olympic Green Tennis Centre.

4 sets of medals will be awarded in the following events:

• Men’s Singles
• Men’s Doubles
• Women’s Singles
• Women’s Doubles

Taekwondo competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from August 20 to August 23. The tournaments will be held at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium.

8 sets of medals will be awarded in the following events:

• -58 kg Men
• 59-68 kg Men
• 69-80 kg Men
• +80kg Men
• -49 kg Women
• 50-57 kg Women
• 58-67 kg Women
• +67 kg Women

Table tennis competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from August 13 to August 23, at the Peking University Gymnasium.

4 sets of medals will be awarded in the following events:

• Singles Men
• Teams Men
• Singles Women
• Teams Women

Softball at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held over a ten day period starting August 12 and culminating with the medal finals on August 21. All games will be played at the Fengtai Softball Field. Olympic softball is competed by women only, men compete in the similar sport of baseball.

The International Olympic Committee has voted to remove softball from the program for the 2012 Olympic Games, so this is the last time that softball will be contested at the Olympics unless it is reinstated at a future date.

Shooting competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from August 9 to August 17, at the Beijing Shooting Range Hall and Beijing Shooting Range Clay Target Field.
